Pygmy Hog Special Tour (Manas National Park)

(5 Nights/ 6 Days)

Itinerary Code: 031

The pygmy hog (Porculasalvania) is the smallest and rarest wild pig in the world, found only in the tall, wet grasslands of Assam and parts of Bhutan foothills. Once widespread across the Terai, today they survive mainly in Manas National Park and reintroduction sites in Assam

Our this special wildlife tour primarily focuses on spotting Pygmy Hog in their natural habitat

And for this we use only elephant rides, as Jeep safari is not suitable for entering their grassland habitat.

While sightings are never guaranteed, we carefully designed this tour to provide one of the best chances to encounter the elusive Pygmy Hog in its natural habitat.

But after exclusive elephant safaris If you don’t see a pygmy hog, don’t be disappointed—focus on the rich grassland ecosystem: Bengal florican, wild buffalo, hispid hare, and over 450 bird species.  Sighting of  Royal Bengal Tiger is also possible during these extensive Elephant safaris. Seeing the environment that keeps the pygmy hog alive is as important as spotting the animal itself.
