Sualkuchi – Assam

This is “East India Expeditions” very special tour. This is just an one day trip from Guwahati but by selecting this special tour you will experience the glory of age old weaving culture of Assam.The tour itinerary allows tourists and students to experience the entire process of weaving, from pre-loom to live loom and finished products, all under one roof at Marvella Paam, located in, Gandhmow, Sualkuchi, about 30 km away from state capital Guwahati. To enhance the weaving experience, additional activities such as nature walks, bee-keeping, and bamboo crafts are included in the itinerary. Tourists can also visit the handloom boutique to view and purchase hand-woven products made by local weavers, and an ethnic lunch is part of the tour. The day concludes with a cultural program featuring folk dance, Bihu, Bhaowna, and other performances, depending on the availability of artists.

One can also opt for travel to Marvella Paam by famous river cruises of Brahmaputra river at  minimal cost and again return to Guwahati by witnessing the breath taking sunsets over Brahmaputra river in the evening. But for this we need a group of at least 12 people to arrange a  private voyage for our guest only.
