Kakoijana, a very unique wildlife destination situated near Bongaigaon town of Western Assam. It is a Hill reserve and has a very own wildlife conservation success story. This reserve forest is the home to Golden langurs, a Schedule I species and among the world’s 25 most endangered primates.

Kakoijana, a very unique wildlife destination situated near Bongaigaon town of Western Assam. It is a Hill reserve and has a very own wildlife conservation success story.

This reserve forest is the home to Golden langurs, a Schedule I species and among the world’s 25 most endangered primates.The Hills of KakoijanaCovers approximately 17.24 km² designated as a Reserved Forest in 1966 under the Aie Valley Division  of Western Assam.

 

Other Wildlife: Hosts a variety of critically threatened and rare species, including:

  • Binturong, Indian Pangolin, Jungle Fowl
  • Hornbill, Lesser Adjutant Stork, Flying Squirrel
  • Monitor Lizard, Python, Porcupine.

Activities:

  1. Trekking through the hill tracks of Kakoijanato witness  and photograph the critically endangered Golden Langurs. Though a hill reserve the first-time trekkers can also do this jungle trek very easily.

How to reach

Guwahati, the state capital of Assam is approximately 195 KM away from Kakoijana. Nearby Bongaigaon town is 20 km away.
