Sri Surya Pahar, located about 12 km southeast of Goalpara, Assam, is a fascinating and relatively obscure archaeological site of ancient India. Nestled on granitic hillocks by the Brahmaputra, this “Hill of the Sun” houses relics spanning Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism, with artifacts dating from the 1st century BCE through the 13th century CE.

Surya Pahara Multi‑religious Heritage  of India consist Buddhist Hinayana votive stupas and carvings across boulders date back to as early as 1st century BCE From the 9th to 12th centuries, Hindu and Jain influences also seen on  carvings and shrines include images of Surya (Sun), Vishnu, Ganesh, and Jain Tirthankara Adinatha .

Almost a Second Kashi ,Local legends claim 99,999 Shiva Lingas were carved here by Ved Vyasa to build a second Varanasi, making it a major pilgrimage centre .While the exact count is unverified, scores of Lingas, tiny to largeare still visible across the site.
